Drug and Alcohol Counselor

First Steps Recovery is a drug and alcohol treatment facility in the foothills of Clovis, CA.We offer all levels of care, including: inpatient detox, residential, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and sober living. We are looking for highly skilled individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.‪

Job Duties:

• ‪Individual and group counseling, case management, education and community outreach, and referrals to appropriate services and community resources
• ‪Conduct intake assessments and program orientation for new patients and family members
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, utilization reviews, and progress notes
• ‪Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
• ‪Maintenance of individual client treatment files in accordance with agency policies and procedures, Joint Commission standards, and all applicable state and federal laws
• ‪General client supervision including planning and scheduling therapeutic activities;
• ‪Supervision of patients during structured and non-structured activities
• Light housekeeping and cooking
• ‪Any other duties as assigned.

‪Essential Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of providing direct counseling services in an intensive setting is preferred, substance abuse counseling is preferred;
• ‪Certification in drug and alcohol counseling by an accredited, state-approved agency; Registration as an intern with the Board of Behavioral Sciences may be substituted for certification
• ‪Annual Tuberculosis test and health screening
• ‪Valid California Drivers license and automobile insurance;
• ‪Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or a related field is preferred.
