The complexity of addiction recovery can lead to numerous challenges that clients must work through. Persevering past these challenges is difficult to do alone. That’s why it is important to find a competent treatment facility that suits each client’s unique needs and desires. At these treatment facilities, clients can engage in different services to find the options that best suit their needs. For instance, some clients may benefit from music and art therapy while others experience greater benefits from mindfulness and yoga therapies. These options allow clients to fully heal and understand themselves on a deeper level. Those outcomes tend to automatically create a positive mindset.
At First Steps Recovery, a number of evidence-based clinical and holistic services are available for all clients. Through making a personalized treatment plan, clients learn how to utilize tools from both realms to create a positive mindset. This is important because a positive mindset is crucial for an overall greater quality of life.
First Steps Recovery’s Mission to Cultivate a Positive Mindset
The staff at First Steps Recovery is committed to providing a full spectrum of care. First Steps Recovery is a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for healing from substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health disorders. In a structured environment, clients can focus on themselves entirely and make active efforts to improve their quality of life. Whole-person healing is a priority at the facility.
The five core values of First Steps Recovery are compassion, connection, collaboration, community, and clinical excellence. By enacting all five principles, clients can restructure their lives in full and learn how to engage with the world in a healthy way. Cultivating a positive mindset is an important part of this.
Treatment Options at First Steps Recovery
First Steps Recovery offers residential, outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), and online programs. Addiction and mental health are very complex, so it is important for clients to have a variety of treatment plans available to fit their needs at any given time in their journeys.
Many clients start out in residential treatment, where there is 24/7 supervision and more intensive guidance in the program. Afterward, clients opt for either aftercare or an outpatient program (in-person or online) in which they can continue their treatment while also transitioning back into their regular lives. An outpatient program allows clients to partake in therapy and other treatment services throughout the week and then return to their homes at the end of each day.
The Importance of Whole-Person Care For Cultivating a Positive Mindset
Whole-person care considers multiple factors in one’s addiction or disorder. These factors can be anything, ranging from another mental health disorder to one’s living environment or family. There are biological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors that influence a person’s well-being, and it is important to address all elements in order to fully heal. Addressing each factor allows clients to make active lifestyle decisions to improve their overall well-being.
Making active, healthy lifestyle choices starts with forming a positive mindset. Clients often feel stuck and restricted by their disorders. Engaging in a whole-person approach to healing, though, guides clients into constructing a positive lifestyle and positive mindset. A positive mindset helps clients deal with and overcome low self-esteem, a lack of confidence, and stress, among other things. Positive thinking helps clients improve their mood and overall well-being.
Cultivating a positive mindset, though, is not completed through simply clinical or evidence-based services in treatment. Positive thinking is shaped through lifestyle choices and active efforts to make changes. For instance, many holistic care services expose clients to healthy coping mechanisms. Art therapy, for example, exposes clients to creative expression through drawing, painting, etc. This therapeutic modality can provide a sense of accomplishment and enhance one’s sense of efficacy and value.
Holistic and Evidence-Based Services at First Steps Recovery
First Steps Recovery offers numerous therapy services on the clinical and holistic ends of the spectrum in order to provide clients with a full range of care. The following therapies are part of evidence-based, clinical services offered at the facility:
- Individual and group therapy

- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Brainspotting
- Neurofeedback

- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
First Steps Recovery also offers the following holistic experiential therapies:

- Mindfulness therapy
A combination of clinical and holistic care helps clients gain a variety of insights, coping skills, and self-help strategies. For instance, someone can use music therapy as a healthy outlet for expressing one’s feelings and thoughts productively. This helps clients experience the world through a new lens rather than feel isolated by their disorder or disorders. Through bonding with a horse during equine therapy, a client can begin to feel more connected and calm in their daily interactions. By using CBT, a client can begin to eliminate negative thought patterns and adopt a healthier, more self-supporting inner dialogue.
Through all of these interventions, clients start to feel more hopeful and positive. The benefits are cumulative as clients take advantage of a variety of therapies designed to make their lives overall better. This whole-person approach cultivates a positive mindset during treatment. What’s more, this approach continues to provide benefits as clients apply these learnings in their everyday lives.
Here at First Steps Recovery, we understand that addiction and mental health disorders are complicated. The healing process is not simple, and everyone has individual needs. This is why we curate personalized treatment plans. The goal is to guide clients in creating healthier and more productive lives. We do this by offering numerous services that are clinical as well as holistic. Some of our clinical therapies include group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). We also offer nature-based, creativity-based, and body-based therapies to help clients gain new insights. This combination of care helps each client create a positive mindset in order to persevere and succeed in recovery. Call us at (844) 489-0836 to learn more.
